Windy

Hop aboard the hurricane, folks, and bring your agendas with you. Plenty of room in the back!

Here's "Chrissakes" Garvey foaming at the mouth in today's National Post (unavailable online), using the hurricane to slag the Liberals:

Now, in one of its frequent moments of natural disaster need, the U.S. faces up to the hardship and challenge alone and self-reliant. Late yesterday the government of Canada, whose citizens flock to the Gulf Coast and Florida beaches in the thousands, announced through deputy prime minister Anne McLellan its condolences and support.

It's not that America needs physical help, given the vast resources of Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Homeland Security colossus -- just a reminder that their nearest neighbours and one-time closest friends feel their pain and really give a damn.

Why didn't we have our vaunted too-little-too-late disaster relief team on stand-by to help? Why aren't we organizing an aid convoy of our precious softwood lumber? They're sure going to need it.

And here's an unidentifiedanonymous Canadian Media Guild member on Antonia Zerbisias' blog using it to slag the CBC:

These images will live with us for the rest of our lives. Thank goodness CNN was there to capture them.

You see, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation will never, ever own its own pictures of the most heartbreaking calamity in recent memory.

My word, that's not much of a recent memory you have there, anonymous CMG member. I understand though, I really do. This lockout is a dreadful, soggy business.
