Secure your jaw to your skull before reading

Peter Worthington is even more ridiculous as a sports columnist than he is as a general-purpose columnist. Today, he suggested that the Toronto Maple Leafs should go after Alexander Ovechkin, and I think it's safe to say this is the money quote:

As for Ovechkin, would the Caps trade him for, say, Sundin and any three others? They'd be crazy not to.

(Insert rueful chuckle here.)

I love Sun columns. You have a photo of an pold white guy at the top, then a spew of bullshit that reads as if it were written by a retarded six-year-old.

Sounds like a pretty good idea to me. They should go after Crosby too; Domi and a couple of draft picks should do it.

Hey Washington,
Yeah, it's John Ferguson here. Tell you what, you send us your franchise player who is almost certain to be the rookie of the year and is touted to be one of the most exciting players since Mario Lemieux, and we'll send you three or four players from our non-playoff bound team whose collective point total barely eclipses your one player. Deal?
When I read articles like this, I've got to think that some columnists days are soon over. I usually find more intelligent comments and reasoned arguments on blogs such as these than I come across in print.
Can't say I'm a big fan of John Ferguson or the Leaf (oxymoron alert) braintrust these days but I don't think I can fault them for not landing Ovechkin.
