The More You Know
I've heard it said that the City of Toronto employs as many people as the Province of Ontario. I have no idea if it's true, but TTC customers are currently being presented with some stark supporting evidence:

Help me, David Miller. What is the correct way to wipe my ass?

Especially in the dreaded "No tissue" situation. Wouldn't want to use your sleeve for that.

With a copy of the City of Toronto Act?

Hillarious. You would think SARS never happened in Toronto. We should use this as a template for other public health issues. Use a condom? I know how to screw, thanks.

"What is the correct way to wipe my ass?"
With your left hand, of course. Wouldn't want to offend any Islamic sensibilities now, would we?

If you haven't figured out the "sleeve sneeze" by the time you're an adult (my five year old has this one down for Chrissakes), I would respectfully submit that you're probably a lost cause anyhow.

This is no where near as bad as the Toronto Public Health "Don't spank your kids" campaign. At least I can see how the city, possibly has an interest in how I sneeze, after all, everyone prefers a (relatively) disease-free city. But how I raise my kids? Seriously.

Heh, I saw a similar thing at my local CLSC, except it was geared towards kids.

Wow — I never clued in that those spanking ads were from the City. That's insane.

The sooner Toronto separates from the rest of Ontario, the better.

sadly, there are a lot of people who haven't figured out that coughing and sneezing should be covered up with a sleeve or a tissue, if my daily walks through the streets of the city are any indication. even more fun is to witness the tissueless nose-blow, whereby the individual, with a tilting of the head, empties each of his (though to be fair, it's sometimes a her) nostrils onto the pavement. i don't even want to think about what these people do in a bathroom stall but i do think they deserve a spanking, or at the very least a hard slap to the head.

Speaking as someone who uses the TTC daily, not only am I pleased by these ads, I'd like to see the "sleeve sneeze" enforced via expulsion from the bus, or perhaps a cattle prod. It would be nice if people didn't need to be told not to sneeze into their hand (or pick their nose) and then wipe their hand on the TTC seat - but they apparently do. It happens every day.

In London the Health Unit ran around putting up signs reminding people to wash there hands. Now they are putting up signs with the six step hand washing process and each step even has a little picture. If that is the kind of thing the health unit can spend there money on they perhaps we need a little less money going to the health unit. There is no issue they won't poke there nose into if they thing it might do some good no matter how lame the justification or cost-benefit. I rip down the posters wheneever is see them BTW. In Toronto can you still get a hamburger cooked less than medium well? beause you can't in London thatnks to the hand wringers and hysterics who unilaterally decided that if there is any chance someone could get sick from anthing, well, then, best to regulate. No matter how much i trust the reputation and service of the restaurant in question.
I love how Sinister Greg thinks this is just fine showing us the prevailing NDP mindset that any government program that might have some benefit, no matter how small, should therefore be done. And they are amazed they are a third party.
